The Equipment Needed To Perform A Successful Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is a medical technique that has taken the world by storm. It allows medical professionals to accurately evaluate joint damage and even perform treatment to address joint ailments. However, it is an extremely delicate medical procedure that requires special equipment to successfully and safely perform. Here are some examples of common arthroscopy equipment.

Arthroscopy involves making a small incision through which the arthroscope can be inserted. The whole idea of an arthroscopy is to allow a physician to evaluate a patient’s medical condition with minimal invasion, so the incision is always kept as small as possible. This requires the use of highly precise surgical knives. Arthroscopies are commonly performed using smaller scalpels with very short handles. This allows the physician greater accuracy when making the surgical incision.

Of course, the arthroscope is the most important piece of equipment in an arthroscopy. An arthroscope is essentially a small fiber optic camera at the end of a long flexible tube. Once the incision is made, the arthroscope is inserted into the joint. The fiber optic camera transmits razor-sharp images back to a video monitor for the surgeon to view. A good quality arthroscope must be extremely durable and very tightly sealed. After all, it will be inserted into the human body and will thus be exposed to human tissue and bodily fluids.

Lastly, proper cleanroom equipment is absolutely essential for any arthroscopic procedure. Surgeons will need to have surgical gloves, alcohol sprays, scrubs and goggles on hand to prevent any contamination of the surgical environment.

As you can see, it takes quite a lot of equipment to make sure that an arthroscopy goes smoothly. The best medical organizations use products from world-class medical suppliers such as Whittemore Enterprises to ensure that product quality is of the highest order. That’s why their success rate for arthroscopies is so high.

What Is Pick and Pack?

The pick and pack concept has become more popular among solo entrepreneurs and business owners. It is an order fulfillment strategy that allows entrepreneurs to sell and ship goods through a third party. Basically, you do not need to have a warehouse or possession of merchandise such as books, clothing, electronics or designer purses to sell such products to your customers.

The company you select is extremely important as their service will define your reputation. You do not want to select a fly by night operation that will take your customers’ money and leave you both in the lurch.

A good pick and pack company will promptly package and ship the goods to your customer. The firm’s accounting representatives will work out payment arrangements with your company. Some businesses require that orders come through a shopping cart and then they pay you the profits after covering the agreed upon costs of the item and shipping. Other companies will bill you every week or month for the costs incurred. The type of arrangement depends upon your business reputation as well as the policies of the order fulfillment company. If you are brand new in this “drop shipping” concept do not expect other companies to grant you extensive credit. They take a risk too especially if you refuse to pay.

When you deal with a drop shipper, you must be very specific as to what you want. You must specify if you want the products shrink wrapped or sent using a particular carrier such as FedEx or UPS. Let your representative know if you want a particular return address or company logo placed on the box. Also, some drop shippers can include one of your catalogs or a special coupon. But you must arrange for these services and sometimes pay extra for them.

Don’t Ignore your Gutters and Drain Spouts!

When I was a young kid, I spent a good part of every Sunday helping my dad with a variety of projects around the house. My Dad was a pharmacist who worked six days a week, and even though he would have liked to have spent Sunday resting, it was the only opportunity he had to fix all of the annoying little things that would inevitably break down around our house. I really resented this chore at the time, but of course today I am grateful for all those extra hours that I got to spend with him. One of the best parts about it was that  it taught me so much about home upkeep. Now that I’m a homeowner and single mom, I rely on what he taught me constantly. One of the most important things I learned was the importance of keeping your gutters and drain spouts clear and well maintained.

Cleaning out the gutters in our split level house was a constant and messy job. We lived in a Maryland suburb and there were lots of trees hanging over our house, and that meant lots of leaves. It seemed like no matter how often we got up on the ladder and cleared the mess out, we’d have a problem every time it rained, and if we didn’t get to it right away we always ended up with our gutters overflowing and water spilling out and running straight towards the house. Letting that happen meant a flood in the basement, so every time we’d have to go out in the rain with the ladder, climb up and clear out whatever mess had accumulated. We  always ended up messy and soaked.  Things are easier these days; since I don’t want to make my kids do what I had to do, I’ve made sure that my gutters are well maintained and equipped with helmets. Of course, maybe I’m robbing them of time with me. Hmmm.
